Rick played youth hockey in the Metro Detroit area for Little Ceasers AAA hockey club, and for his High School Notre Dame Academy. From there he went on to play Junior Hockey for the Windsor Bulldogs, and Kingsville Comets In Southern Ontario. Rick continued his Junior Hockey playing for the Saginaw Gears in the North American Hockey League. and then went on to play College Hockey at the University of Findlay (Findlay, Ohio). At Findlay Rick played Four Years of NCAA College Hockey where he pursed a Criminal Justice degree. Coach Rick has been with Prairie Ridge for 8 years.

Growing up, Kurt  enjoyed playing football, hockey and golf. Following high school graduation, Kurt attended the United States Air Force Academy where he played hockey as a defenseman for four years and was named the team captain as a junior and senior. In May of 1990, Kurt graduated and went on to pilot training at Vance AFB in Enid, OK. After pilot training, Kurt flew KC-10s on the west coast for 10 years, accumulating over 3,000 hours flying worldwide and was then hired by American Airlines in 1999. Kurt and his family moved to Crystal Lake in 2002.
